PB & J Protein Balls

(Makes 15-20 balls)

I have a bad habit when it comes to grocery shopping.  It will definitely be something I include on my “New Years Resolution” list.  I tend not to look at price tags.  It’s not good… and my grocery bills keep rising.  And it is really ridiculous considering the most expensive items are the boxes granola bars and balls that I buy for the kids.  Ridiculous because I keep learning, time and time again, that I can MAKE it so much better, almost 100% of the time! 

Today I successfully recreated a favourite PB&J Protein Ball.  These are less expensive than the ones at the store, and they taste more fresh, more real/whole, and the ingredient list is an upgrade as well.  Best of all, they take minutes to whip up in only one pan.  So no excuses, these are our new go-to!


1/2 cup cacao butter (this can be hard to find, so I have included a link)

1 tbsp coconut oil

1/2 cup natural peanut butter

3 tbsp honey or maple syrup

1 tsp vanilla extract

3 tbsp full-fat coconut milk

1/3 cup dried fruit (I used cranberries sweetened with apple juice)

1/3 cup rolled oats

1/3 cup almond flour

3 scoops of Vanilla Juice Plus+ Complete


Melt cacoa butter over medium/low heat.  Once melted, remove from heat and stir in coconut oil, peanut butter and honey or maple syrup.  Next add the coconut milk and dried berries.  

Consistency should be so that you can easily roll them into balls and they stick together.  If it is too crumbly, add a splash of coconut milk.  If it is too wet, add more oats.  Roll them into balls, and enjoy sampling on some of the warm dough!  Store in the fridge or freezer.
